Friends of OCMP

Friends of Orleans County Marine Parks was created under the auspices of the Oak Orchard Neighborhood Association. Its sole purpose is to support improvements to the public lands controlled under the Office of the Orleans County Marine Parks. It may seek and receive funding from tax-supported agencies (including but not limited to Federal, State, and local governments), and assist in recommending improvements to the Parks, which its members believe will be beneficial to the public, and/or as approved by the the Orleans County Parks manager.

  • Elected officers include OONA members Lynne Menz (President), Ken Martin (Vice-president) and Frank Panczyszyn (Secretary/Treasurer).
  • Ex-officio (non-voting) members include OONA President, Chris Manaseri and OCMP Manager, Dawn Borchert.
  • FOCMP received its 501(c)(3) tax exemption status by the Dept. of Treasury IRS effective September 25, 2023.
  • FOCMP by-laws were adopted on October 18, 2023.
  • FOCMP received its New York State Exemption Certificate (ST-119) effective January 9, 2024.

With the non-profit status from the state and IRS, FOCMP is now eligible to apply for grants to support it’s mission.

The Officers of FOCMP will be inviting OONA members to participate by:

  • Sharing ideas on what projects or improvements we might want to pursue;
  • Volunteer to be on a project committee to help write and administer grants;
  • Suggest grant opportunities to fund projects.
