After careful deliberation, the Oak Orchard Neighborhood Association (OONA) has determined that the 2020 Summer Concert Series at the Orleans County Marine Park at Point Breeze will not be conducted this summer. OONA officers based this decision on the fact that corona virus continues to pose a serious threat to the health and safety of the community and may continue to do so well into the summer.
The OONA Summer Concert Series has been a successful endeavor since its inception in 2010 whereby several local organizations have benefited from the funds raised through sponsorship, admissions and 50/50 raffles. The concerts draw approximately 400 attendees each week. Last year, OONA donated $5000 to not-for-profit organizations and the previous year, $4000.
We regret taking the year off; however, we encourage your support of our local sponsors who have made our fundraising efforts possible. From June through August, OONA will promote past sponsors by displaying their signs on the Orleans County Marine Park fence along Rte 98. Please support our faithful sponsors by patronizing these businesses during these challenging times. They certainly need our support during these difficult times.
And, last, we would be remiss not to extend our gratitude to the bands, vendors, attendees and volunteers who have made this event a success over the years, and wish nothing but the best to you all at this difficult time. We hope that this pause will be temporary and we can practice social distancing at a concert in the Marine Park in the very near future.
Stay healthy! Stay safe! And, be KIND as we all strive for a “New Normal”! We hope to have a socially distanced plan for the 2021 Concert Season. Hope to see you then!!
